Karen Bruns is currently serving as an Agile Trainer for the Healthcare Eligibility, Enrollment, and Retention System (CalHEERS), for the State of California.
Her previous State coaching engagements have included, California Medicaid Management Information System (CA-MMIS), and Child Welfare Digital Services (CWDS). Karen's previous training events have hosted personnel from State of California Office of Systems Integration (OSI), Child Welfare Digital Services (CWDS), Child Welfare Directors Association (CWDA), Statewide Automated Welfare Systems (SAWS), Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS), and Meds Modernization.
Karen is an Agile Evangelist, a Scrum Synergist, and a Fearless Transformational Leader. She is CSM, CSPO, CSP, SAFe Agilist (SA) and CAL1 certified, as well as being ICAgile Coach and Agile Team Facilitator certified.
Recently certified in ICAgile's newest certification of ICP-TAL for Agile Human Resources, Karen is one of 12 people in the world and one of just 4 in the United States to hold this certification.
Perhaps her favorite certification though is that of Facilitator of Open Space Technologies. She serves on the Agile Open NorCal conference organizing team.
Additionally, Karen is serving on the organizing committee for Agile Games West 2018 (link on the home page).
She has served as a ScrumMaster, Mentor of ScrumMasters, Product Owner, Scrum Coach, Agile Coach, and Corporate Trainer of Agile Scrum practices for multiple California government agencies.

Karen has succeeded in transforming teams and businesses into well-oiled Agile engines that purr. She has successfully coached HR managers to better understand their complimentary role within Agile.
She has developed a Building Organizational Culture© program that brings people together in an Open Space format to identify and declare what is most important to them.
Karen co-authored a white paper: Creating champion Scrum Teams and the accompanying Playbook for Creating Champion Scrum Teams One Team at a Time .
She has spoken at global Scrum gatherings for Scrum Alliance, various Open Space Forums and Agile Camp in Dallas.
